Educational Opportunities

The Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council’s purpose is to enhance the ability of its members to provide high quality, ethical rehabilitation, health care, and related services to people with a brain injury.

To meet this mission, MBIPC is committed to providing platforms for resource sharing, information exchange, professional development and education.

MBIPC hosts scheduled monthly meetings, annual seminars and as needed sessions throughout the year.

Monthly Educational Series

The purpose of the Monthly Educational Series is to provide cost effective, state-of-the art information, clinical best practices, and operational insight to our members.

Each session is designed to benefit our members engaged in providing direct services to adults and children recovering from and/or living with a brain injury.

Leaders in the field present information about brain injury treatment, case management, family support, community integration, therapies, legal framework, and research.

Learning occurs with discussion, case studies, exhibits, practicum, and lectures through virtual and in-person formats.

Approximately 30-40 people attend and continuing education credits may be available to attendees.

Cost to attend a virtual session is $10 for MBIPC members and $25 for non-members.

Sponsorships are available to companies interested in showcasing their services.

Annual Business Practice Bootcamp

The over-arching goal of the Annual Business Practice Bootcamp is to provide practical information to MBIPC members to help overcome denial for payment of compensable services, create industry unity, and promote delivery of clinically justifiable services for Michigan citizens living with a brain injury.

MBIPC surveys members annually for input into the topics to be covered. The panel of experts develop the agenda focusing on identified needs. The topics vary from year to year, but the focus is always on providing MBIPC members the tools and strategies to effectively run their business in an ever-changing reimbursement climate. General topics may include one or more of the following in any given year:

  • Addressing the current legislative/judicial changes that affect how MBIPC members do business

  • Developing strategies to overcome ways insurance companies deny/delay payments for compensable services

  • Improving reimbursement amounts for compensable services

  • Protecting patient access to care

  • Exploring alternative funding to improve access to care for all Michigan citizens

  • Addressing general business practices (i.e. coding, how rates are set, public relations planning)

  • Developing standards of care for our industry

  • Membership networking and sharing of useful strategies
